Impact & Learning

What we measure matters.

YDLC is in its founding stage. Rather than inflate numbers that have not been earned, this page shows how impact is defined, what is measured, and only the results that are verified — whatever they show.

01 — What YDLC means by impact

Impact is change that lasts — measured, not assumed.

YDLC defines impact as meaningful, durable change in the capability, confidence, and participation of the people it works with — and in the communities they belong to. Impact is not reach, attendance, or enthusiasm. It is what is different because someone took part, evidenced and reported honestly.

YDLC separates outputs (what is produced) from outcomes (what changes for participants) from longer-term learning (what carries forward). Each is measured differently, reported separately, and never conflated.

02 — Theory of change

Learning → Practice → Participation → Contribution → Longer-term outcomes

A simple chain from learning to lasting change. Each link is measured.

  1. 01

    Learning

Participants gain skills, knowledge, and confidence through structured learning.

  2. 02

    Practice

Learning is applied through real work, projects, and responsibility.

  3. 03

    Participation

Participants take part in community and institutional life with genuine voice.

  4. 04

    Contribution

Work produces something real — for peers, community, or the organisation.

  5. 05

    Longer-term outcomes

What participants carry forward — tracked over time, honestly.

03 — What we measure

The measurement framework.

These are the levels YDLC tracks. No figure is published before it is verified.

01
Participation
Who takes part, how often, and through what.
02
Learning
What participants know, can do, and feel more confident about.
03
Leadership practice
Responsibility exercised — projects led, decisions made.
04
Engagement
Depth of involvement, not only attendance.
05
Outputs
What is produced — work, events, resources, completions.
06
Outcomes
What changes for participants — measured, not assumed.
07
Longer-term learning
What participants carry forward over time.

Evidence base is being established. Verified figures will appear here as programmes are delivered and evaluated.

04 — Current evidence

Evidence base is being established.

YDLC has not yet delivered a programme cycle. No verified results are available, and none will be fabricated to fill this page. The first results will be published after the first programme cohort is completed and evaluated.

When evidence is available, each published figure will carry a reporting period, a metric definition, a source, and a verification status — including any targets that were missed.

05 — What we are learning

A commitment to honest reflection.

YDLC treats learning as part of impact — not a supplement to it.

01

We test before we scale

Programmes run one cycle before expansion decisions are made. We learn from the first cohort, then grow.

02

We report what we miss

If a target is missed, we say so and explain what we are changing. Self-promotion is not learning.

03

We ask, then adjust

Participant and mentor feedback shapes the next cycle. Indicators stay configurable as we learn.

06 — Reports and evidence

Verified institutional reports.

Only verified, publicly approved reports appear here.

No reports published yet

Institutional reports — annual reports, strategic plans, programme reports, and evaluations — will appear here as they are formally prepared, verified, and approved for public release.
